75.4 POUNDS GONE!
75.4 POUNDS GONE FOREVER! YAAAAAHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOO!
What does it “mean” to lose 75 pounds?
75 pounds is the average weight of a 11-year old boy.
(I tried to imagine have to backpack an 11 year old kid around all the time. UGH!)
How Much Fuel Is That?
To lose that amount of fat would mean to burn 262,500 calories or 1,098,300 KiloJoules! That is the equivalent of 8.53 gallons of gasoline. Humans, however, are far more efficient than cars, getting about 912 “miles to the gallon”. If you could dump this many calories into the tank of a Honda Civic, you would be able to drive it about 288 miles before running out of gas!
Let’s see how your goal would convert to other forms of fuel. 262,500 calories is equivalent to:
* 8.53 gallons of gasoline, or
* 93.74 pounds of coal, or
* 130.25 pounds of oven-dried wood, or
* 11.54 gallons of propane
This amount of energy would …
* Brew about 732 pots of coffee, or
* Light a 60-watt light bulb for 5,085 hours ( 212 days = 0.63 years)
Cutting 262,500 calories is the same as saying “no” to:
* 3,281 apples, or
* 2,625 bananas, or
* 15,441 cups of cabbage (whew!), or
* 1,810 baked potatoes, or
* 3,281 large eggs, or
* 2,188 cups of 2% milk, or
* 189 pounds of ground beef, or
* 3,017 glasses of wine, or
* 813 Snickers bars, or
* 1,094 Clif Bars ( 1,458 Luna Bars), or
* 1,888 cans of Coke, or
* 1,544 pints of Guinness beer, or
* 534 Big Macs, or
* 510 Quarter Pounders with Cheese, or
* 375 Whoppers, or
* 795 Subway 6″ Oven Roasted Chicken Breast sandwiches, or
* 1,544 Taco Bell crunchy tacos, or
* 1,117 slices of pepperoni pizza from Pizza Hut
What it Takes to Burn 262,500 Calories
To burn 262,500 calories, a 190 pound male would have to:
* Backpack for 435 hours (18 days) nonstop, or
* Walk for 1,006 hours (42 days) at 3 mph straight, or
* Walk 3,017 miles (1,886 kilometers), or
* Bike for 761 hours (32 days) at 10 mph, or
* Bike 7,609 miles (4,755 kilometers), or
* Play basketball nonstop for 419 hours 17 days), or
* Play billiards for 1,215 hours (51 days), or
* Go bowling for 1,014 hours (42 days), or
* Stay on the golf course for 761 hours (32 days), or
* Spend 338 hours (14 days) playing competitive football, or
* Jump rope for 320 hours (13 days) straight!
You would have to walk the length of England about 5.03 times to burn 262,500 calories.
How Long it Will Take?

I get what it takes. It takes a lot of dedication on your part and willingness to say “no, thank you” to other people’s guilty temptations (whether this is food, drink, or lack of doing anything that day). I realized we may be making them feel guilty at the same time, while we are just supporting ourselves.
75.4 is awesome. I have lost 63 lbs. in almost 10 months. I would like to loose 20 more, but haven’t seen how yet. GAVE UP so foods for Life (like fries)…need to find the other things holding me back from the better game.
YOU are awesome!

Great work… crazy figures there! an 11 year old boy on your back! I bet it would be hard to ride a bike like that.
I only have 30 or so to still eliminate (I hate to say lose because I don’t want to FIND them again)
Congrats to you
